Position Summary

SUMMARY:

The Utility Project Manager is responsible for managing American Tower’s utilities on assigned projects.  Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to; identifying utility company for Services Project Manager, power and telephone ordering, propane ordering, and reporting on account set-up and assisting Services Construction Managers during construction on utility related reporting. The Utility Project Manager will also be required to manage internal trackers to ensure project milestones for utilities are met.  The Utility Project Manager will assist the construction effort by organizing the payment of any due fees or deposits required by the utility provider. The incumbent will also be responsible for establishing and maintaining relationships with wireless carriers, utility vendors, and internal team members.

 
Requirements

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Produce and maintain required utility information for individual projects using spreadsheets and/or databases.
  • Communicate utility status to Construction Managers on a regular basis through exchange of trackers and attendance at weekly deployment meetings and/or conference calls.
  • Manage customer needs by ensuring expectations regarding utility timelines are met. 
  • Responsible for requesting approval from project lead for deposit/fee check request and producing required documentation for payment backup to customer.
  • Work with Architectural and Engineering team with locating utilities for purposes of drafting construction drawings.
  • Coordinate power and telephone site visits with Construction Manager and field teams to ensure reporting accuracy for site utility construction efforts.
  • Maintain and report from internal Company databases to ensure data accuracy for site utility construction efforts.
  • Continuously develop ways to improve the efficiency of reporting, input and review of all utilities project related reporting and tracking.
  • Order power, telephone and /propane as an authorized agent for customer on any given project.
  • Manage the installation efforts of power, telephone and propane with individual vendors by providing contact information and site specific data.

QUALIFICATIONS:

·         Strong understanding of all aspects of power and telephone coordination and how it relates to the tower construction industry.

·         Understanding of utilities and how they relate to wireless construction tasks

·         Excellent follow-up skills

·         Ability to problem solve and provide inventive solutions

·         Ability to use discretion and work with little supervision

·         Ability to succeed in a fast-paced environment

·         Ability to manage multiple and simultaneous projects and vendors

·         Self-motivated, able to work in a team and independently

·         Detail oriented, able to multi task and meet deadlines

·         Strong organizational skills

·         Excellent written and verbal communication skills

·         Proficient user of Microsoft Office Suite

·         Safe driving record and own transportation

·         Valid driver’s license

·         Must be able to walk over undeveloped land unassisted

·         Must be able to travel unassisted

·         Must be able to sit at a computer for long periods of time

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

·         College degree in business, planning, engineering, construction management or equivalent work experience in the wireless site development industry.

·         Previous experience managing utilities services for assigned projects required

·         Minimum 3 years of work experience in utility services

·         Demonstrated expertise in utility management for projects requiring multiple site coordination efforts.

 

ENVIRONMENT:

Approximately 90% performed in climate-controlled internal office environment working under normal office conditions.  Approximately 10% travel throughout project territory will be required in support of the position’s responsibilities. 

 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands and finger to feel and handle, reach with arms and hands, talk, and hear.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently is required to stoop, kneel, and crouch; lift weight or exert a force up to a maximum of 25 pounds.
